Program Details & Availability

Programs started in February 2020 – beginning with our Children’s Program and A Different Kind of Perfect Volunteer Program. We hope to start our Women’s Program before the end of the year and have plans for an Adult PTSD Program that we hope to launch in 2021.

When we have program places available, the details will be listed on this page and an application form will be visible. When there are no current vacancies, Program Full will appear instead.

Go Remarkable!

Program Full

Due to COVID-19 restrictions program places are extremely limited. We do not anticipate having vacancies until October.

Children’s Program – Go Remarkable!

Our Go Remarkable! Program is full of incidental learning opportunities – all built around 12 core attributes that every member of our herd has – and that we hope program participants will develop in their time with us. Those attributes are: Gratitude, Optimism, Resilience, Empathy, Mindfulness, Acceptance, Responsibility, Kindness, Awareness, Bravery, Liberty and Empowerment. We believe that those core attributes are the key to horses and humans setting themselves on a pathway to a positive future.

Program times vary depending on the availability of the Mentor and child. Program length can also vary but ideally, a program will run for 12 weeks.

The cost of the program is currently under review. Scholarships are available for children whose parents have a Health Care Card or Pensioner Concession Card or children who are living in foster care, out-of-home care or in a domestic violence refuge. When program places become available, a link to a sponsorship form will also display.

After graduation from their program, children who wish to remain connected to the horses and the Sanctuary are invited to join our Junior Volunteer Team.

Different Kind of Perfect Volunteers

Program Paused

This program will re-open when COVID-19 restrictions are lifted

A Different Kind of Perfect Program

Our Different Kind of Perfect Program enables volunteers with mild disabilities to come and help out at the Sanctuary on our Gardening Team. The prerequisites are that the volunteer:

  • can regulate their behaviour in all ways. The Sanctuary is a quiet and peaceful environment that is calming for our horses, program participants and volunteers alike. Maintaining that feeling of safety and tranquility is a priority in all that we do.
  • is always accompanied and by a carer
  • can work with their carer without the need for an additional Sanctuary staff member to monitor their activities
  • is able to perform general gardening activities that include: raking up leaves, weeding garden beds, pruning trees, planting seedlings, watering garden beds, mulching garden beds etc.

All tools and equipment are provided. A list of jobs that need doing is always available. Keeping our Sanctuary neat and tidy is a constant job!

Cost: There is no cost for this program but the volunteer and needs to pay an annual membership fee of $40 to assist with the cost of our volunteer insurance premium.

To apply, please visit our Volunteer page and complete one online application form for the volunteer and one for the carer.
